Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetry of Galip Dede (Mehmet Esat, died 1213 AH/1798-99 CE). It begins with kasideler (ff 1v-21r) followed by chronograms (ff 21r-36r), terciibentler and terkibibentler (ff 36r-69r), şarkıyat and tahmisat, and mesneviler (ff 69r-78r), and kıtalar ending with two prose works entitled Bahr-i tavil (ff 78r-79r) and Suret-i tezkire (ff 79r-80r). The remaining portion of the Divan consists of gazeller (ff 81v-160r), a further collection of chronograms (ff 160v-166r), elgaz (ff 166r-v), mukattaat (ff 166v-170v), rubaiyat (ff 170v-176r), and ebyat-i müfrede (ff 176r-181r). Folios 2 and 9 have been left blank. This manuscript is not dated, but was likely copied in the 19th century CE.

The Divan-i Şeyh Galip was first printed in Bulak in 1252 AH (1836-37 CE).
