Scope and Content

This volume contains the poems of Lami', who flourished in the first half of the 18th century CE, judging by the chronograms which range in date from 1133 AH (1720-21 CE) to 1162 AH (1748-49 CE). The Divan begins with a na't, followed by poems in the same category as well as other types of verse (münacat, der vasf-i hal-i hod, etc.) and kasideler (ff 12v-33r) dedicated to Damat Osman Paşa; Grand Vizier Damat İbrahim Paşa; Ragıp Mehmet Efendi, Reis ül-Küttab; Silahdar Bekir Paşa, Governor of Konya; Mir Sami Kıblelizade; Pir Mustafa, Kethuda to the Grand Vizier; Süleyman Paşa Rişvanzade; and Pir Mustafa Paşa, Governor of Rakka (perhaps the same as the Kethuda of this name). The rest of the Divan consists of chronograms (ff 33r-46v), terkib-bendler and other composite poems (ff 46r-59r) and, lastly, gazeller (ff 59r-141r). An owner's note dated 1255 AH (1839-40 CE) appears on one of the end papers. The manuscript was likely copied in the early 19th century.
