Scope and Content

This volume contains two of Enderunlu Fazıl Bey's mesneviler: the Hubanname, devoted to the beautiful young men of the various nations and communities of the Ottoman Empire and the world; and the Zenanname, devoted to the women of the various nations of the world, their customs and their costumes. Both texts contain content that might be considered misogynist, racist, anti-Semitic, or otherwise prejudicial regarding the individuals described. This manuscript was copied in 1250 AH (1834-35 CE).
